About

Codruța MARE is Prof. of Statistics and Econometrics at the Dep. of Statistics, Forecasts, Mathematics and PhD. coordinator in the field of Cybernetics and Statistics, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and the Scientific Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Data Science, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She teaches courses in Statistics, Econometrics, Economic Forecasting and Spatial Econometrics among others. She has a very good knowledge of all types of data analysis and econometrics methods, applied in different fields of the real life – economic, social, medical, etc. Besides her solid theoretical and methodological background, given by the fact that she is a university staff, Codruța MARE has important expertise gained in a series of research projects and consultancy activities conducted both for public institutions (The World Bank, European Commission, Romanian Ministry of Structural Funds, Cluj-Napoca City Hall, etc.) and for private companies, both SMEs and multinational corporations. In part of the cases, her job was to apply data analysis procedures related to the field of activity of the client along with constructing and adapting methodology to the needs of the client and deliver reports and policy implications conclusions. The other part of her consultancy activities consisted in delivering trainings both in data analysis and visualization, in Romania and abroad, for different types of clients (multinational companies activating in economics and business, international hospitals or national institutions, including in countries like the United Arab Emirates (Dubai Municipality and Government of Abu Dhabi) or Saudi Arabia (King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre)). She is currently the Grant Award Coordinator of the COST ACTION CA19130 “FinAI – Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Finance” and the country lead and WP1 coordinator in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions under the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program for the Industrial Doctoral Network on Digital Finance, acronym: DIGITAL, Project No. 101119635.

Key Achievements and Outputs

1. A series of articles, books, reports and working papers on different topics that involve Statistics and Econometrics, that can be found on the Google Scholar account
2. Member in the team that develops the yearly Romanian FinTech Report – RoFinTech
3. Project manager or project member (with the main role of Statistician/ Data Analyst) in both research and consultancy projects with public or private institutions, including the World Bank or the European Commission (see CV)
4. Grant Award Coordinator and Virtual Networking Support Coordinator (starting 2022), STSMs coordinator (till March 2022) and MC member for Romania in the COST action CA19310 FinAI – Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Finance – Towards a Transparent Financial Industry, 2020-2024
5. Scientific Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Data Science, Babes-Bolyai University
6. Developer of the methodology for the Index of Magnetism of the Romanian cities (World Bank, 2017)
7. Co-author of the “Cluj-Napoca in Figures” brochure.
